Get To Know Me

Welcome! Let me tell you a little about myself: I am Kelcie, a senior at the University of Oregon, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations. I have completed my minors in Business Administration and Media Studies, and am on track to graduate in June 2015.

I gained a background in broadcast and visually storytelling from Duck TV News, the University of Oregon’s Television Network. As a multimedia intern at Fox News Portland, I produced various scripts for the talent to read during Northwest broadcasts, and also published news stories on the organization’s regionally acclaimed website. I brought these skills to Duck TV News as the Web Team Writer and Social Media Specialist. My administration of the organization’s social media Twitter personality resulted in a 57 percent increase in followers. Talk about great media exposure!

I then worked with the UO Career Center’s Experience MORE Program to project its message that students should get involved. Hired on as marketing coordinator, I became an expert at face-to-face counseling, writing email blasts for numerous diverse audiences and managing social media outlets. I honed in on event planning and became a veteran, running their quarterly SOAR seminar.

I have a passion for fostering positive social change and helping people to find happiness. Everyone has a reason to smile, and I want to be the person to help people find those reasons. As Audrey Hepburn said beautifully, “Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it’s at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others.”
